So you think food and wine are a thing? Welcome to the world of craft beer and food pairing. On September 21st, you can experience the ultimate craft + food journey... hold our hand we'll take you there
In preparation for CRAFT SINGAPORE 2018, we embark on a journey through food and beer combinations, bringing you tips to enjoy your favourite dishes whilst discovering the marvellous world of craft brews!
The art of wine pairing has been, so far, preferred by many (not just the French!) but with craft beer and craft spirits gaining popularity your taste buds are in for a pairing treat.
Bar food meets malty
Think pizzas, burgers and stewed red meats... dishes that have been caramelised in the cooking process pair great with Amber Ale and English Ales. These malty choices complement your typical western bar choices well, but they also thrive next to some local favourites such as char kway teow and mee goreng!
Want a salad with that beer?
Guilt free food like salads and sashimi are highlighted by the light, clean flavours of a Lager or Wheat Beer. So next time you're on a diet or feeling like something lighter, save your calories for the liquid portion of your meal. These beers don't overpower your raw meal but instead enhance the flavour of them.
Burn baby burn!
Have you ever been told that to mitigate the effects of a hot chilli you should have a glass of milk? Well... don't "hop" too quickly to that advice and try an Indian Pale Ale (IPA) instead. Hoppy beers are perfect pairing for mean curries and Mexican food. The fruity bitterness balances spicy flavours without overpowering them. So next time you're attacking a chili crab, have a cold glass of the right beer with it.
And your BBQ companion is...
If you have to man the grill with a beer in hand (we completely understand your feelings) pick a Brown Ale. The nutty-roasted-chocolatey flavour profile complements any barbecued or smoked meat. Sausages and burgers also go well with this rich beer, but we prefer an Amber Ale with our cheese burger. By all means, go brown when you are enjoying chicken wings and satay too.
For creamy desserts, replace your espresso with a Porter or Stout. They say your Kaya toast tastes better with a stout! We haven't tried that combo yet, we'll have to get back to you on that one.
What to expect at CRAFT SINGAPORE 2018....
Three culinary kings join the party with three very distinctive flavors. You see... our favorite part of CRAFT is that it is a well rounded event where every detail matters and because we are in Singapore.... our food matters even more.
When you arrive, please arrive with your in-app ticket on WAAVE and an empty stomach!
Vatos Urban Tacos will be dishing out some serious Ko-Mex - we're hoping their Galbi Short Rib Tacos are on the menu as they have been a super best seller on WAAVE before.
If you need a preview of their classics please stop by the restaurant and order with WAAVE to enjoy 10% off on your entire bill! See menu in-app.
The 1925 Brewing Co.can certainly stand the heat in the kitchen! We are going to be wowed by their flavours but as of TODAY... they remain very secretive about what's cooking! Ivan has been in front of the camera, over the stoves, and among the hops for long enough that he knows how to put up a culinary show ;) See for yourself.
Hello mate! You can't enjoy craft beer without the best BBQ in town, and no one works that grill better than Sidecar Sausages. They are famous in the party circuit for all the right reasons. They feed you well, they feed you fast and they'll be the friendliest bunch around!
Expect sausages, burgers, and we're hoping for some pulled pork action.... but let's see what is on the barbie for CRAFT!
If you know the team, you know they are awesome... You can also order with WAAVE and get your frozen goodies for home delivered before and after the event, and for a limited time only - you get 20% off your order! Check them out in-app (Yeah - mobile only guys! and add your address to your profile so they can sort out delivery for you)
